Alpha 0.5.7 – Stability, Smarter AI Foundations, and Faster Loads

We’re thrilled to bring you Alpha version 0.5.7 – an update that focuses on performance, stability, and laying the groundwork for future smart AI. Here’s what’s new since our last release:

🛠 Crash Fixes & Browser Support

We’ve squashed the major crashes that previously interrupted your games. This means we’re now on a path toward browser support being a long-term priority. You can expect smoother gameplay, and we’re actively testing on more browsers going forward.

⚡ 90% Smaller Build Size = Faster Loads

Our build size has been dramatically reduced by about 90%. The result? Much faster load times and a snappier experience, especially on web platforms.

🎛 New UI Buttons & Info

We’ve added new buttons to enhance usability:

  • All-Time Stats button – track your cumulative performance with ease.
  • Rule Info Box – get quick access to game rules right inside the game.

🤖 Introducing QAI (Q-Learning AI)

There’s now a Use QAI checkbox in the options. This activates our experimental machine-learning-based AI using Q-learning. Right now, in the browser, the QAI is starting “naked” – meaning it has no prior training. Even with a little guidance on the first move (expert-assisted learning from the static AI), it plays with its own developing strategy.

While you won’t notice much effect yet, this sets the stage for smarter opponents. We’re already working on a web service that will provide a shared, semi-trained brain for all players. More details soon!

As always, your feedback helps shape the next steps. Try the new version, test the QAI if you’re curious, and let us know what you think!
